Google upgrades Webmaster tools
Google has upgraded its Google Webmaster Tools by adding two brand new features recently. Out of them, one is Structured Data Dashboard and another is CNAME Record Verification. First of all, let see what ‘Structured Data Dashboard’ is all about.
Structured data is an integral part of the search results conducted on Google and Google launched a fresh section called “Structured Data”, under the section of “Optimization” of Google Webmaster Tools. This structure data will allow users to see rich snippets markup and other markups related to the structured data that Google has found out for your website. In order to facilitate the process, Google splits the reporting of dashboard into three different levels which includes: site level, item type level and page level.
- On the Site level, Google combines data by vocabulary schema and root item type.
- On the next level of Item type, Google does make available details per-page wise for every type of item.
- On the ‘Page level’, Google display the entire attributes of each item type on the specific page.
Well, this was about Structured Data Dashboard, now comes CNAME Record Verification:
CNAME Record Verification is nothing but an alternative way that facilitates users to verify their domain names through Webmaster Tools of Google. User can now insert a CNAME record to the DNS.
These two features are basically an effort by Google to ease out the hassles of those users who did try creating DNS TXT records for domain but couldn’t complete the process successfully. This way it is now easier to manage the data related to the performance of the website.
